What is DNS?

DNS Directory

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is essentially a "mnemonic" device that makes it easier to remember internet addresses. (The alternative would be to use an “IP” number, similar to the more widely recognized “phone” number, but in the internet world.)

By registering a domain name, you make an entry in a directory of all domain names and their corresponding computers on the internet. The cost and length of registration varies. Since your website depends on people finding it, choose a registrar wisely.
